Waninkoko has released an updated version of his firmware updater. The previous version had problems on USA and JPN consoles:

Firmware Updater v4.3 has a bug when patching the System Menu of the firmware for the USA and JAP consoles, so the homebrew channel is deleted after the firmware update. This version fixes the error and should work fine on a console from any region.
If you're using a European Wii and have used the v4.3 version, you do NOT need to use this version.
how do i use this to update my wii i never updated my wii and i dont want to brick it im using firmware 4.1 u and its soft moded some of the new games freze on me after i play them for a while. step by step instructions would be appreciated thank you very much
You just run it with the HBC. Put the file in a folder and name the .dol boot.dol. Place this folder in the apps folder on your SD card then load the HBC and you should see it there. Just run it and choose network install.
There is not really any reason for you to update to this though. 4.1 is fine.
If your setup requires a patch to run NSMB then 4.3 will not help in any way. 4.2 and 4.3 were merely attacks at homebrew. Maybe some of the updated IOS and new IOS will be required for the flood of games coming this christmas but for now there is no reason for anything in the 4.3 update.
