Raz0red has updated his port of the Mednafen emulator for Wii.
It currently supports the following systems:
GameBoy/GameBoy Color
GameBoy Advance
Game Gear
Lynx
Mega Drive/Genesis
Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
Neo Geo Pocket
PC Engine (CD)/TurboGrafx 16 (CD)/SuperGrafx (Fast version)
PC-FX
Sega Master System
Virtual Boy
WonderSwan
It should be noted that the Virtual Boy emulation included with this emulator is much improved over WiirtualBoy. Most games now run at 100% speed without frame skipping. These improvements are due entirely to Ryphecha (Mednafen) who optimized the core emulation code in addition to eliminating idle loops on a per game basis.
Changelog (27/01/12)
Minor update from 0.1
Double strike fixes for PAL display modes
PAL50: fixed minor display corruption issue
PAL60: was completely broken, now works correctly
Space Pinball Prototype (Virtual Boy)
Added idle loop patch, it now runs at full speed w/o frame skipping
Nintendo has announced that the Wii U controller will feature a NFC chip.
Satoru Iwata
“By installing this functionality, it will become possible to create cards and figurines that can electronically read and write data via noncontact NFC and to expand the new play format in the video game world.”
The Wii U will also feature a user based system, much like a Xbox Live account, which will be linked to Nintendo Network.
Satoru Iwata
“Also for the Wii U, we are planning to introduce a personal account system compatible with Nintendo Network. With this, for example, the ease of using a video game system when the hardware is shared by multiple family members, which has been a challenge we needed to tackle, shall be improved, and we will also be able to construct and offer the system by combining a variety of different services and content.”
An industry insider has told CVG that Nintendo are considering a name change for the Wii U, due to the confusion the 3DS has already caused. Sounds like a good idea to me, I wonder what they would call it.
The Wii U will be released in all regions by the end of this year, more specifically during the holiday season, according to a report by Andriasang. This was announced by Nintendo's CEO Satoru Iwata today during an earnings conference in Osaka.
Hopefully they will talk about an estimated price soon, so everyone can start saving their hard-earned money to spend it all on Nintendo once more.
ThatOtherPerson has released version 1.0 of The Jarred Mind 3, something for the Wii. This is so odd, I can't describe it at all. It's pretty interesting though, so check it out if you have the time.
Author's description
Here is a port/update of The Jarred mind 3. It’s pretty much the same as it was on PS3 but it now includes motion controls and a textured floor (which uses the Death Candy tiled wallpaper made by CherieNoir).
It came to our attention that the latest Wii releases were numbered wrongly. They went from 2877 to 2888 and as such the following five releases continued this wrong numbering.
These releases have now been given the correct numbers, so the release list should no longer contain any mistakes like these. You might need to refresh your browser's cache to make the images show up correctly.
Sorry if this has caused any inconvenience for anyone.
