[User Posted Image]DIOS MIOS and UNEEK+DI news
Created By Crediar

I made a small post a while ago with news that Crediar had managed to get a USB GC ISO loader working using a SNEEK setup and a modified MIOS. Well some progress has been made since then and he has created a couple of threads on RVLution to clear up some of the questions.

Once thing is clear, Crediar is certainly pushing towards an anti-piracy campaign with this stating that you will only be able to play games on DIOS-MIOS that have been ripped using the internal ripper which will add some code allowing the game to be booted. DVD-R/+R will be blocked and only original titles will be allowed to backup to the USB device. DIOS-MIOS will naturally be closed source.

When can we expect to see this? Around September is looking likely for a public beta.

In other news, a post has appeared on Crediar's twitter page saying that UNEEK+DI is working. It's not much to get excited about as far as announcements go, but with the current SNEEK / SNEEK+DI / UNEEK setups failing to impress a wide audience, UNEEK+DI really could be what we have all be waiting for when twinned with DIOS-MIOS.

Check out some of the links below to read more on these subjects and we will try to keep you updated as the situation progresses.

I registered here only to say this:
Fucking great. What about the people with a D3-2 drive, unable to rip any discs? And why the hell is he being a white-knight for piracy when he's modifying proprietary software in the Wii, which in and of itself is illegal? Double morale? Don't get me wrong, GC USB loading have been something that I've been waiting for for quite some time, but to impose limitations on something as ground breaking as this, only to prove a point, is down right moronic.

It was only a matter of time until someone made a post like yours. The guy may aswell just not bother doing anything in all honestly. No one will really want to use a modified MIOS with such restrictions.

Now if the plan is to show Nintendo what he has done and see if there is some commercial viability in using a USB HDD to store GC games, I can see why the restrictions are being made. Considering the MIOS has to use a SNEEK setup, then the whole piracy campaign is rather futile.

On a final note, it seems UNEEK+DI is now available. I'll have a little compiling session and if I can get something running that impresses me, I'll post it up for you guys.

I have to say this:

HEY DUMBASS! If you're such an advocate for anti-piracy, then why the hell are you MODIFYING A WII? I can just as easily go out to Gamestop and pay $30 to buy a GameCube, if I want to play Gamecube games! Which is what I did.

This guy's contributions to the Wii Scene are meaningless. Sure, it's nice to have a USB GC loader, but what the hell is the point if he's going to place 90,001 restrictions on it's use. This guy doesn't even deserve attention. First he cries like a little bitch about how no one is supporting him and he's only going to release the beta to five people, then all of a sudden, he's going to publicly release it but put restrictions on it's use.

@retrohead: Even if he WERE to go to Nintendo, it's a pretty safe bet that they're going to throw him out on his ass and potentially file a lawsuit against him.

My point is this guy is completely stupid and petty and he should be lucky that we're giving any attention at ALL to him.

I hope that someone downloads this, lifts the restrictions, and releases it as their own. THAT would teach the prick.

So, all in all, fuck Crediar, fuck his "work" that he probably stole from someone, and fuck all of this hoopla. Maybe if we ignore him, he'll go away and we'll wait for someone who ACTUALLY CARES about the community to make a program!

I'm sorry the correct answer was "9,001".

But I also would've accepted "OVER NINE THOUSAND!".

Back on topic I agree with you in a way, I thought the whole reason for the Wii hacking/homebrew community was to remove the restrictions placed upon the system and unleash its full potential.

Or did I miss something? Crippling your own software like that seems to be going backwards.
