Hi Guys,

I need your help!!

I want to buy a Wii Drivekey Modchip, got a pal wii and want to play backups.
After the installation (it´s solderless), what have I to do to play Backups,
can I play everygame (also which needs higher firmwares)like Wii Sports Resort or
The Conduit , my wii fw is on 3.1E  .
I read that with the drivekey which can block games updates but I´m not sure
if everygame can be played by blocking updates.
So, I were glad to hear something from you guys and please tell me if I forgot something
that is important.

(By the way I dont want so softmode my wii!! ) :yaywii:

I think that newer games require higher firmwares. I have a D2Pro (PAL) with Firmware 4.1 (Waninoko's Updater) and no problem with any of the games out there (i can even play US and JAP NTSC Games). Anyway some games require also an update for WiFi (Mario Kart). Without it you can't play online or the game won't work also.
Hope that helps you a bit.

In your first post you say you don't want to softmod your wii then you go on to talk about firmware hacks which is basically softmodding your wii. Whether you have a chip or not, it is always best to install bootmii and get a NAND backup no matter what you decide.

With regards to cetain games needing certain firmwares (system menu), this is untrue really. Games usually require certain IOS to run or the latest version and I don't think there are any games which use the system menu IOS.

Yes ideally you should install HBC, Bootmii, get a NAND backup from bootmii and run waninkokos 4.1 updater. Like I said before, there really is not much point in forgetting about softmods even with a modchip as this leaves you open to many issues (running updates from out of region games or maybe a future update that can detect your modchip etc).

I've used the Drivekey.  In my experience, you may block updates, from ninty, as well as from the disc.  However, I've only had to go as far as 4.1.  Everything to date works fine with it.  You really should only update if you have 0-mods whether hard/soft and do not plan to do it in the future.  R.H., correct me if I'm wrong but BootMii is partially useless as an IOS correct?

Yeah installing bootmii as an IOS is partially useless. If you can only do an IOS install then I would probably say to install preloader aswell.

Use bannerbomb to install bootmii and the HBC, there are plenty of threads explaining this already so do a search for them.
